TimeLock
A timed lock for your Windows laptop that survives restarts.
The problem
Staying focused is hard when every distraction is one Alt-Tab away, and the timers people use are easy to close, pause or lose on reboot.
What was built
Three small C# executables, compiled with the C# compiler included in Windows — no SDK, NuGet or runtime to install. The app writes an absolute end time to a protected state file; a scheduled task running as SYSTEM enforces it; an unprivileged lock screen can only read the clock. It is a focus tool, not a security product: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Safe Mode and a forced power-off remain available.
Key features
- Full-screen lock across every monitor
- Live countdown and unlock time
- Absolute end time — a restart gives you the remaining time
- Enforced by a SYSTEM scheduled task
- Blocks Win, Alt+Tab and Task Manager shortcuts
- Restores the desktop and shell when time is up
- Fails open if the state file is missing or corrupt
- No SDK, NuGet or runtime; works on Windows 10/11 Home
